Parents Guide

  • Sex Mild

A kiss scene between a couple of major characters around halfway through the movie. It's obvious when it comes up.

Someone sees their ex kissing a new person.

Peter meets a woman in a bathhouse, and she is sitting in the pool. We and Peter don't see anything below her shoulders because the water is cloudy. She tells Peter "take your clothes off" so that she can ensure he has no weapons, and tells him to join her in the pool for their discussion. Peter strips down to his boxer briefs and does so. We learn she does this with everyone. The scene is played for comedy with the characters acting awkwardly and is NOT sexual in tone!!

A random couple kisses on a train while Peter looks on.

A few scenes show Peter wearing only boxer briefs.

Peter begins producing organic webs from his wrists and a few scenes portray this in a way that can be interpreted as comedically suggestive.

Peter and MJ share a brief kiss while MJ is in a trance thinking it I'd the real her, Peter later apologises explaining that he thought it was really her.

Someone comments that the public is speculating whether Spider-Man has a girlfriend or boyfriend, then asks Spider-Man if he has seen the "super graphic artwork" people make about him and says there's one with him and "ten Mysterios" (Mysterio is the male villain from a previous film). As she mentions the last part she makes an imitative sexual gesture with her hands. Spider-Man cuts her off and says he's seen it and he's trying to unsee it.

There is a women in a pool no nudity is shown.

    Non.

  • Violence Moderate

Spider-Man spits out blood from his Mouth, and is shot in the back with a puddle forming under him.

Characters are seen (aggressively) fighting; punching, kicking, body slamming, shooting, stabbing, etc. Several bloody injuries are seen as a result. Someone is aggressively hit by a car, partially off screen. Someone is seen slamming their head into a windshield, hard.

Characters are seen being "possessed", through mind control. In the process, their bodies contort in abrupt ways, though nothing overly graphic.

The hulk brutally barrages Spiderman, with him begging to stop. Red and black pieces are seen on the floor, which is probably blood.

Frequent scenes of violence include kicks, punches, body slams, head slams, and the use of bladed weapons.

There are also scenes involving gunfire and explosions.

Occasional scenes feature blood on characters in the aftermath of violence, including a close-up of a bloodied face.

In one scene, a pool of blood is briefly visible under an injured character.

Characters are thrown through glass and slammed into vehicles.

A character who can mind control others forces some of them to commit harmful acts. An old man is made to walk into the road and is sent flying after being hit by a car. There's no blood but it can be shocking. Other scenes include a mind controlled woman being made to jump off a building and security cam footage of guards being made to shoot each other.

  • Profanity Moderate

There is infrequent implied strong language ('motherf-'), as well as milder terms including 'b**ch', 's**t', 'bulls**t', 'a**hole', 'ass', 'jackass', 'fricking', 'jerk', 'godd**n', 'hell', 'd**n', 'God', 'Jesus', and 'Christ'.

8 uses of "godd**n" the most in any Spider-man movie.

The Punisher curses the most out of everyone in the film, mainly using words like "s**t" and "godd**n". Spidey occasionally utters phrases such as "what the hell" and "oh s**t".

Frank definitely curses the most out of any of the other characters.

  • Drugs Mild

A reference is made to drugs, briefly.

Characters drink alcoholic beverages at a party.

  • Frightening Scenes Moderate

Spider-Man is ruthlessly beaten by the Hulk with him begging him to stop at one point.

The memories of Aunt May from the previous films may be upsetting and sad.

Jean and her sister were abandoned and abused domestically, and at a park, Sara goes to get ice cream, and gets captured at gun point and tranquilized with a bit of blood. She then gets murdered by damage control.

Characters are depicted dealing with the loss of loved ones.

Jean Grey is constantly psychologically tormenting and attacking Spider-Man. She at one point controls MJ and makes Peter think she regained her memory, but she never did. It can be pretty disturbing and heartbreaking.

Spider-Man and civilians are repeatedly placed in life-threatening danger, with intense action sequences and suspense throughout.

Spider-Man jumps in front of a bullet and is shown bleeding before collapsing. He is brought to the hospital unconscious by the Punisher. This can be upsetting, as it is not known for a few minutes whether or not Spidey survives.

Scenes with Spider-Man's arachnid hormones taking control during fights can be frightening, especially for children. This is definitely a PG-13 movie due to the tone and emotional weight of some scenes.

There are 2 main scenes were spiders are shown in full close up detail on a monitor when a character is researching about their powers one as a close up on its face and the other a video of it. This could upset people with arachnophobia.

Suggested new MPA description: Rated PG-13 (for sequences of sci-fi action/violence and some language.)
