Privacy Policy
Last updated October 23, 2026
This policy describes how Movie Review: Is it Woke? handles information when you use the website.
What we collect
- Account data — email and auth provider identifiers when you sign in (via Supabase Auth).
- Profile — optional username and avatar you choose to store.
- Contributions — Reviews, Example Reports, and Review Reports you submit.
- Technical logs — standard server/CDN request logs (IP, user agent) as needed to operate the service.
How we use data
We use account and contribution data to show Catalog content, display your Reviews, moderate reports, and keep the service secure. We do not sell your account or contribution data. Some US state laws count personalized ads as selling or sharing data; you can opt out under Your choices.
Third parties
- Supabase — authentication and database hosting.
- Sentry — receives error reports when the website breaks: the error, the page, your browser's user agent, and request details. When a page errors in your browser, it can also receive a recording of that session leading up to the error, but only once Google's consent message allows analytics, the same choice Google Analytics waits on.
- Cloudflare Turnstile — on the email sign-in and sign-up forms, checks that a person rather than a script is sending them. It reads signals from your browser and your IP address, and is not used for ads. Read Cloudflare's Turnstile privacy addendum.
- TMDB — movie/TV metadata and images are provided by The Movie Database; see attribution.
- Google AdSense — shows ads on the website, unless your account is ad-free. Google and other ad vendors use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites. Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services, and turn off personalized ads in Google's Ads Settings.
- Google Analytics — counts pages viewed and actions such as signing in, playing a trailer, submitting a Review, voting on an Example, and asking for analysis, so we can see how the website is used. Where the law asks for consent (the EEA, UK, and Switzerland), Google Analytics loads only after you agree in Google's consent message.
Your choices
You can update your Profile and sign out at any time. When the website shows ads or uses Google Analytics, Privacy settings at the bottom of the page reviews or changes your ad and analytics choices, including opting out of the sale or sharing of your data where your state allows it. In the apps, use the privacy option in Settings.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account yourself: on the website under Account, in the iPhone app under Profile, and in the Android app under Account. It's one account, so deleting it in one place deletes it everywhere. It can't be undone. Deletion removes, right away:
- your sign-in: your email and auth provider identifiers
- your Profile and the avatar you uploaded
- your Reviews, Review Reports, and Example Reports (your helpfulness votes on Examples), and any reports other people filed on your Reviews
- your Media Requests
- your notification tokens
- the ad-free record the website and Android app read
Deleting your account doesn't cancel or refund an ad-free purchase. Manage or cancel it with the App Store, Google Play, or wherever you bought it. On iPhone, ad-free comes from your App Store purchase, which stays with your Apple ID.
Our daily database backups keep a copy of everything in that list except your sign-in and avatar for about two weeks, then delete it. The analytics, error reports, and website request logs described above aren't linked to your account, so deleting it doesn't remove them. Security logs of sign-ins and of the deletion itself can still hold your account ID or email.
