Christian Army Mocked
Rick makes a disparaging remark about a “Christian army,” using the group’s faith as a target for ridicule.
Spoiler Reveals a plot point
Marriage Treated as Disposable
Rick calls marriage “funerals with cake” and shows no concern when Beth and Jerry split up, reducing marriage and family breakdown to throwaway nihilism.
Nihilism Replaces Religious Meaning
The show repeatedly advances a godless worldview: Morty says nobody exists on purpose and everyone will die, while the gang honors a rock as a reminder that there are no gods. This makes existential nihilism the series’ prevailing answer to questions of meaning and faith.
Teen Sexualized Relationship
Summer, described as a teen, makes out with the gang leader and moves around with him on a table; three weeks later, they appear to be living together in an apparently sexual relationship. The show presents a minor in a sexualized romantic situation.

Characters get beheaded, stabbed, shot and blown up.
TV-MA violence type: blood, gore, brutal and graphic.
EXTREME graphic violence throughout the entire episode. "Look Who's Purging Now" is undoubtedly the most violent episode of "Rick and Morty". Many innocent villagers are mercilessly slaughtered, and they're shown getting killed in extremely graphic and unpleasant manners. Also, the tone is very dark and bleak, in contrast to the series' comedic tone.
Many animals are brutally slaughtered throughout the entire series.
Vindicators 3: The Return of Worldender" (Season 3, Episode 4): Rick sets up a series of deadly, Saw-style death traps for a superhero team. The episode culminates in incredibly graphic dismemberments and bloody executions as the heroes are picked off one by one.
Profanity Severe
f**k, s**t, cock, tits, d**k, b**tard, and c**t are used alongside lesser profanity like crap and ass as well as various racial slurs, homophobic slurs, and ableist slurs.
600+ uses of "f**k" throughout the entire series, which are always bleeped on broadcast. But on Blu-ray, DVD, and HBO Max are uncensored.
Profanity is not bleeped on streaming services such as Disney+
Drugs Severe
Alcohol, cannabis, cocaine, heroin, Percocet, MDMA, tobacco, brake fluid, and various fantasy drugs are smoked or snorted.
Frightening Scenes Moderate
Many rats are graphically slaughtered which could upset sensitive viewers.
Often times family members will be openly abusive towards one another which could upset sensitive younger viewers.
The show can be dark at times.
Rick is smart but he's definitely abusive sometimes and the things he does can be disturbing.
Some episodes or season finales may upset or frighten younger viewers.
Scenes where characters are getting shot at or in peril.
In the season 7 finale "Fear No Mort" a very creepy creature opens up Morty's guts to place maggots in them. We can see the initial opening of Morty, but the camera cuts to Rick before we can see the maggots going in. A couple seconds later we see Morty in the background in pain and you can vagally make out white maggots squirming around.
Rick says very extreme, abusive, and profane things to his grandchildren, this could be saddening for some.
A handful of episodes have horrifying/disturbing scenes throughout.
Rated R for Animated Sequences of Strong bloody violence/gore and language throughout, strong and crude sexual content/references, some nudity and graphic drug/alcohol use.
