Bureaucracy Cast as Cosmic Fraud
The TVA is exposed as a fraud whose pruning of timelines has been called an atrocity and destroys billions of lives. The story frames the institution itself—not merely a rogue official—as a source of mass harm.
Bisexuality Made MCU Canon
Loki says he has loved both princesses and princes, confirming his bisexuality in the series. The dialogue makes LGBTQ representation part of this franchise lead’s characterization.
Gender-Fluid Marketing Tease
A Disney promo had already hinted that Loki was gender fluid. The marketing adds a separate gender-identity signal to the character’s LGBTQ positioning.

Female Variant as Assassin
Sylvie, a female Loki variant, stabs He Who Remains and is prepared to kill him despite the catastrophic consequences. The story casts a woman as the decisive fighter in this conflict.
Details
After stealing the Tesseract during the events of “Avengers: Endgame,” an alternate version of Loki is brought to the mysterious Time Variance Authority, a bureaucratic organization that exists outside of time and space and monitors the timeline. They give Loki a choice: face being erased from existence due to being a “time variant” or help fix the timeline and stop a greater threat.
