What earned the score

  • Woman in Scientific Role

Maxine is an Umbrella scientist, placing a woman in a technical role in the outbreak story. This is a female-representation choice.

  • Disposable Black Girlboss Gunfighter

Maxine is introduced as a Black woman in command, talking down to a male scientist before shooting infected people running through dark streets while Bryan looks lost. The film briefly casts her as a competent female gunfighter, then kills her off, making the girlboss display feel like a disposable DEI insertion.

Abortion is mentioned a couple times, but there is nothing involving xenogenders so it’s not woke.
