What earned the score

  • Homophobic Slurs as Bullying and Casual Profanity

A bully targets the Losers Club with an anti-gay slur, and the children also use the slur amid the film’s profanity. Together, these uses make homophobic language part of the story’s vocabulary of bullying and casual insult.

  • Beverly’s Father Sexualizes and Assaults Her

Beverly’s father strokes her hair and shoulders, asks whether she is doing “womanly things” with boys, and throws her to the ground as if attempting to rape her. The scene depicts a child in an explicit sexualized abuse situation.

  • Sexualized Framing of Beverly

Thirteen-year-old Beverly appears in a bra and panties while the boys are in their underwear, then lies sunbathing as they stare at her. The scene sexualizes minors through revealing clothing and the boys’ lustful gaze.

  • Child Flirts with Adult

Beverly flirts with a very old, creepy pharmacist while her friends steal medical supplies. The scene uses a child’s flirtation with an adult as part of the film’s sexualized material.

  • Sexualized Rumors Target a Thirteen-Year-Old

Beverly, who is thirteen, is accused of sleeping around, and a boy taunts her while grabbing and stroking his crotch. The scene places a minor in an explicitly sexualized context.

  • Frightening Scenes Severe

Pennywise distorts himself and moves in unnatural ways.

There are many jumpscares. There're 4 major and about 20ish minor ones.

In one scene after Pennywise gets stabbed In the eye he turns around with his mouth ripped open showing a little bit of IT and pairs of sharp teeth can be seen, then he rips his hand open with sharp spider like claws.

Bill's main priority throughout the movie is that he'll find Georgie alive and well, despite both his father and Richie telling him otherwise, many scenes involving this can be emotional.

Bill finds Georgie hiding behind a well. He walks over to Bill, lacking an arm and holding his paper boat, crying that he wants to go home. At the end of their conversation, Bill shoots Georgie in the forehead. It turns out afterwards that "Georgie" was merely a form of Pennywise's.

Pennywise can unhinge its jaw like a snake, it's disturbing to watch.

Pennywise is seen opening his mouth very wide there are also many sharp teeth in his mouth along with a glowing light in the back of his throat. Can be frightening to some younger viewers.

A girl is blasted in the face with gallons of blood.

Towards the end of the movie, a leper vomits what looks like black tar all over one of the boys- very graphic
