In "Goodbye June," a dying matriarch's family navigates loss with minimal woke intrusion: a son's mild gay romance subplot with a male nurse feels tacked-on, while the saintly black caregiver trope reeks of lazy DEI virtue-signaling over genuine character depth.

What earned the score

Gay Nurse Romance

Connor, the sensitive son, struggles with his mother's impending death and his own sexuality, blossoming into a gay romance with a male nurse named Gabrielle.
